Chul Gi Cho Dan - A 9 stage pattern

Chul Gi Cho Dan from the Joon Be position:

Joon be ------- Feet together, knives flat over each other right over left

  1. Cross left foot over right look right, knives flat at chest, elbows out, crouch down when feet are crossed - depth is about equal to horse stance Step right into horse with right leg, left hand chambered at left waist, right hand yeuk sudo (thumb side is strike side, palm up) to right, (remain in horse) left elbow strike into right palm, followed immediately by left fist over right fist at right side chamber (remain in horse) left low block (looking left), right fist remains at right side, followed immediately by right fist over left at left side chamber

  2. Step right foot over left, left arm circles behind you as you step into next horse stance facing same way. left arm will be up as you enter the horse stance, use it as low block portion of kawi maki, right arm bakkat maki.follow with reverse kawi maki

  3. Pick up left foot into crane, and preset body right 90 degrees with left fist over right for immediate leftward double hand fist block which occurs as you step down into leftward facing front stance. While in left front stance, right hand grabs throat to your right 90, left hand punches uppercut as you turn back into horse right 90.

  4. Hands remain in uppercut, pick up right foot into crane, preset body 90 left, as you step down into right facing frontstance, left backfist over right arm to your own knee area - right hand remains under elbow throughout this technique; return to horse with fist chambered left over right.

  5. Leftward yeuk soo do (thumb side is strike side, palm up) to left, (remain in horse) right elbow strike into left palm, followed immediately by right fist over left fist at left side chamber (remain in horse) right low block (looking right), left fist remains at left side, followed immediately by left fist over right at right side chamber

  6. Step left foot over right, right arm circles behind you as you step into next horse stance facing same way. right arm will be up as you enter the horse stance, use it as low block portion of kawi maki, left arm bakkat maki; follow with reverse kawi maki

  7. Pick up right foot into crane, and preset body left 90 degrees with right fist over left for immediate rightward double hand fist block which occurs as you step down into rightward facing front stance. While in right front stance, left hand grabs throat to your left 90, right hand punches uppercut as you turn back into horse left 90.

  8. Hands remain in uppercut, pick up left foot into crane, preset body 90 right, as you step down into left facing frontstance, right backfist over left arm to your own knee area - left hand remains under elbow throughout this technique; return to horse with fist chambered right over left.

  9. From chamber, right fist hammerfist, left fist traps to solar plexus, both hands palm down. Kihap

Finish

Open both hands into soo do; left arm up into circle until even with right arm; at the same time that you begin to bring the arm up, bring the right leg in - you should reach feet together as your arms come level. Arms continue smoothly to right over left palms down, soo do form.
