Tae Kuk Cho Dan - A 20 stage pattern

Our school's tae kuk cho dan is derived from the Okinowan pattern tae kyo ko cho dan. The Okinowan version is exactly like ki cho il bo; in order that additional skills be learned, the turns here are different from ki cho il bo (and hence, the Okinowan version.) So, if you're familiar with tae kyo ko cho dan, don't worry that this is different; it is intentional, and we do, in fact, do a pattern with exactly the same steps: ki cho il bo.

Tae Kuk Cho Dan from the Joon Be position:

Chamber left fist at right shoulder, and:
  1. Pivot 90 left, left front stance, left low block
  2. Advance to right front stance, right middle punch, left fist to waist
    (b) Chamber right fist to left shoulder; look right
  3. Pivot 180 right, right front stance, right low block
  4. Advance to left front stance, left middle punch, right fist to waist
    (b) Chamber left fist to right shoulder; look left
  5. Pivot 90 left, left front stance, left low block
  6. Advance to right front stance, right middle punch, left fist to waist
  7. Advance to left front stance, left middle punch, right fist to waist
  8. Advance to right front stance, left fist to waist, right middle punch & Kihap
    (b) Chamber right fist to left shoulder; look right
  9. Pivot 90 right, right front stance, right low block
  10. Advance to left front stance, left middle punch, right fist to waist
    (b) Chamber left fist to right shoulder, look left
  11. Pivot 180 left, left front stance, left low block
  12. Advance to right front stance, left fist to waist, right middle punch
    (b) Exchange: chamber left fist to right shoulder, right fist to waist, look left
  13. Pivot 90 left, left front stance, left low block
  14. Advance to right front stance, right middle punch, left fist to waist
  15. Advance to left front stance, left middle punch, right fist to waist
  16. Advance to right front stance, right middle punch, left fist to waist: Kihap
    (b) Chamber right fist to left shoulder, look right
  17. Pivot 90 right, right front stance, right low block
  18. Advance to left front stance, left middle punch, right fist to waist
    (b) Exchange: chamber right fist to left shoulder, left fist to waist, look right
  19. Pivot 180 right, right front stance, right low block
  20. Advance to left front stance, left middle punch, right fist to waist
