Bat Sai Sho - A 19 stage pattern

Bat Sai Sho from the Joon Be position:

Joon be ------- Feet together, crossed knives vertical, right over left

  1. Lean forward while raising up on toes, jump from about 15 degrees one step on left foot into x-stance left behind right, block down to right with right knife flat over left (double assisted palm block), then block up above left shoulder double assisted palm block, without changing hand stacking or body positioning.

  2. Step up and out with left leg into horse stance, high mountain block, from crossed hands over chest (right over left) left hand soo do thumb back (palm in), right hand soo do thumb forward (palm out).

  3. Right hand moves in a circular motion behind to right, left hand moves in circular motion in over and down to solar plexus; then both hands rotate back as you transfer weight to left leg and right leg crosses left in front then while right is still in air, change to jump to 180 degrees from previous orientation, feet together, bend over, right low sweeping block from left to right hand travels up high circularly as you stand up...

  4. ...then across face down to right arae maki.

  5. Step out in front with left into horse stance at 90 right to previous orientation, cross arms left over right at solar plexus high mountain block, left hand soo do thumb back (palm in), right hand soo do thumb forward (palm out).

  6. Right hand moves in a circular motion behind to right, left hand moves in circular motion in over and down to solar plexus; turn 90 left into left front stance, bring right hand around from what is now the rear right, back of right palm impacts cup of left palm at left waist.

  7. Step forward with right ap chagi with right yeuk soo do palm up to end directly above where ap chagi terminates;

  8. Step down into right front stance, pull right to right waist chamber, punch left at left side of front stance (90 degrees)

  9. Switch to opposite front stance in place, pull left to left waist, punch right at right side of front stance (90 degrees).

  10. Switch to opposite front stance in place, Kawi maki (left arae maki, right bakkat maki)

  11. Switch to opposite front stance in place, Kawi maki (right area maki, left bakkat maki)

  12. Right leg advances in direction of previous punches, right backstance, double soo do middle block

  13. Left leg advances in direction of previous punches, left backstance, double soo do middle block

  14. Right leg advances in direction of previous punches, right backstance, double soo do middle block, quickly to...

  15. ...pull right leg back into koa sohgi, pull both hands back (grabbing spear) in fists, reach out again and repeat pull both hands back (grabbing spear) in fists.

  16. Step forward with right ap chagi with right yeuk soo do palm up to end directly above where ap chagi terminates;

  17. Hop off left leg onto right leg as rear leg in 180 degree reversed left back stance; double soo do middle block

  18. Step in right leg into horse stance, double right low block.Turn 90 left into front stance, swing hammer fist forward (left);

  19. Right outside crescent kick into left palm, elbow strike in horse.

  20. left leg pulls in from horse stance into feet shoulder width ready stance, arch backwards, pull hands to waist in soo do, palms up, bring hands medium speed to behind head in preparation for bo grab; tension hands hard and bring to 75% of closure in front of you then whip them together at maximum speed - loud clap indicates force of technique.

  21. Turn 270 left as overturn with chamber for double hand bo strike to right side while stepping into horse stance at 90 from previous position.

  22. Turn 270 right as overturn with chamber for double hand bo strike to left side while stepping into opposite stance at 180 from previous position.

  23. Turn 270 left as overturn with chamber for double hand bo strike to right side while stepping into opposite stance at 180 from previous position, then turn 180 degrees into left hak dahri sohgi with double soo do middle block - totally slow & under control!

  24. Count (silently) to three, then advance to opposite (right) backstance with double soo do middle block.

Finish ------ Bring left leg forward, feet together, crossed knives vertical, right over left
